Kelechi Iheanacho May Leave Man City As Jesus Returns

Super Eagles star, Kelechi Iheanacho, looks set to quit Manchester City after owners of the Premier League club passed a vote of confidence on manager Pep Guardiola.

Last August, Iheanacho signed a contract extension that will keep him at City till 2021.
But he has since struggled for first-team appearances after Guardiola took charge of City this season and the arrival of Brazil striker, Gabriel Jesus, has further limited the appearances of the Nigeria international.
“Pep has received the full backing of the owners of Manchester City and this means that in the coming season, he will enjoy even more power to change things at the club,” a source close to the club said.
“We have as many as eight players Like Yaya Toure and Zabaleta who will be at the end of their contracts at the Ittihad in the summer and it is expected Pep will make sweeping changes for the new season.
“He has already admitted he is unhappy with the quality of the players he met on arrival from Bayern Munich and will make wholesale changes going forward.”
The source said of the Iheanacho situation: “Kelechi has not enjoyed much playing time this season under Pep and it could be even worse when Jesus returns from injury.
“He is down the pecking order of strikers and as a young player, he need to get more playing time and experience and that could only be away from City, a source reported.
